As we move into the New Year, many of us start thinking about our goals and resolutions for the coming year. If you’re like most people, your list might include items like eating healthier, exercising more, or spending less time on your phone. But have you ever stopped to think about what you want to achieve in your career?

1. Define your goals

What do you want to achieve in your career? Do you want to be promoted to a management position? Do you want to switch careers entirely? Knowing what you want is the first step toward achieving it.

Once you know what you want, it’s important to communicate your desires clearly to those who can help make them a reality. Talk to your boss or mentor about your goals and ask for their advice on how to best achieve them. When you put your intentions out there, you put the wheels in motion to make them happen.

2. Create a Plan of Action

Start by breaking down your larger goals into smaller, more manageable pieces. Then, create a timeline for each goal and assign specific deadlines that you can work towards.

3. Get organised.

Achieving your goals is going to require some organisation. This means keeping track of deadlines, networking contacts, and other important information. Getting yourself organised now will save you a lot of stress later on! This step might include some practical admin that will set you up for success in the long run:

4. Be positive!
